AI Pet & Document Summaries
AI summaries read through a pet's records for you and give back the picture in seconds: a structured pet summary covering history, recent visits, medications, vaccinations, and weight trends, and a short summary on every document you upload — so you know what's inside a lab report without opening it. Both are included with the Clinic plan.
Turning It On
AI summaries are part of AI Features, which a clinic admin switches on once under Settings → Enable AI Features. They're available only on the Clinic plan.
Generating a Pet Summary
Open the pet's page and find the AI summary card on the profile. Click Generate AI Summary, confirm the short notice about AI-generated content, and the summary appears after a few seconds.
A brand-new patient with an empty file has nothing to summarize yet: you'll see Not enough data yet until the pet has at least one medical record, vaccination, treatment, or note.
Keeping It Fresh
You don't need to regenerate by hand every time something changes:
- When you add a record to a pet that already has a summary, flow.vet quietly refreshes it for you a few minutes later.
- When newly uploaded documents finish processing, the card shows Update available — click Regenerate to fold the new findings in.
- The card always shows when the summary was generated, so you can tell at a glance how current it is.
Document Summaries
Every document you upload to a pet — lab results, referral letters, scans of paper records — is read automatically in the background. Shortly after the upload you'll see a short summary next to the file: the document type and the key findings, without names. There's nothing you need to do; it just appears.
Tell Us What You Think
Under each pet summary you'll find Helpful and Not helpful buttons. If a summary missed something or got the emphasis wrong, tell us in the box that opens — that feedback comes straight to us and helps us genuinely improve the summaries.
Fair-Use Limits
There's no meter and no per-summary charge. To keep the service healthy there are generous fair-use limits over a rolling 30-day window — set well above what a busy clinic uses. If you ever reach a limit, you'll see a message telling you when to try again.
